mockJLPT Terms of service
The agreement between you and mockJLPT. By creating an account or making a purchase you accept these terms. Last updated 24 September 2026.
1. The service
mockJLPT (mockjlpt.com), operated by Ayan Sengupta (セングプタ アヤン), sole proprietor, trading as mockJLPT, provides online practice tests for the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). mockJLPT is independent study material and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Japan Foundation or Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES), which run the JLPT.
2. Accounts
- You need a free account to see test results and to buy. Give a valid email address and keep access to it: it is how you sign in.
- Accounts are personal. Do not share your account or let others use your purchases.
- If you are under 18, use the service and make purchases only with a parent's or guardian's consent.
3. Free tests and level packs
- Each level (N5 to N1) has one free mock test. N5, N4 and N3 also have one free practice drill for each skill (kanji, vocabulary, grammar).
- A level pack unlocks the paid mock tests and practice drills of one level on your account. It costs ¥5,500 per level, including 10% Japanese consumption tax, as a one-time payment. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal.
- Each level's pack contains 5 complete mock tests, in addition to that level's free test, and, for N5, N4 and N3, that level's practice drills (sets of 20 questions on one skill). The number of tests in each pack is shown on its page before you buy.
- Access starts as soon as your payment is confirmed and does not expire while mockjlpt.com operates. You can take each test as many times as you like.
- We may correct, update or replace individual questions or tests to fix errors or improve quality, without reducing the number of tests in a pack you bought.
4. Payment and invoices
- Payment is processed by Stripe at the time of purchase. Accepted methods are shown on the checkout page.
- Prices are in Japanese yen and include consumption tax. Your card issuer may charge fees for payments in yen.
- A receipt and a qualified invoice (適格請求書) are issued by email through Stripe. Registration number: T2810604733191.
5. No refunds
A level pack is digital content that is made available immediately after payment, so purchases cannot be cancelled or refunded, and online purchases are not covered by a cooling-off period under Japanese law. This does not affect your rights where the service does not work as described: if you cannot access tests you paid for because of a fault on our side, or you were charged twice for the same level, email hello@mockjlpt.com and we will fix the problem or refund you. Try the free test for a level before buying its pack.
6. Scores
Scores are estimates to help you practise. The official JLPT uses scaled scoring, so a mockJLPT score is not a prediction or guarantee of an official result.
7. What you may not do
- Copy, record, screenshot for distribution, publish, resell or share test content or answers.
- Use bots, scrapers or other automated means to access the service, or try to get around access controls or payments.
- Interfere with the service or other users, or use it for anything unlawful.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, without refund.
8. Content
The tests, software and site content belong to mockJLPT or its licensors and are licensed to you for your own personal study only.
9. Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep the service available but may suspend it for maintenance, security or reasons outside our control. If we ever permanently close mockjlpt.com, we will give account holders at least 30 days' notice by email.
10. Liability
We provide the service with reasonable care. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the level pack concerned. This limit does not apply to damage caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or where the Consumer Contract Act or other law does not allow it.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we change the service or the law changes. We will post the new version here with its date and tell account holders about significant changes by email in advance. Changes do not reduce what you already bought.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute will be handled by the district court with jurisdiction over the seller's location as the exclusive court of first instance.
